  • Aix en Provence, former capital of Provence and Cassis, charming fishing village

Former Capital of Provence and birthplace of the famous impressionist Paul Cézanne, Aix en Provence invites you to travel in time through its architecture like a stage set.

Much of the old town, Vieil Aix, is pedestrian only, made for strolling through its labyrinth of narrow streets. They lead you to the 17th century Town Hall, the Archbishop’s Palace and St Sauveur Cathedral (interior : 2 steps to access). You can also appreciate a typical southern atmosphere at the market witch transforms places into real color-changing pictures. All stalls are a reflection of Provencal cuisine : natural, fresh, varied and fragrant...

You will continue with Cassis, an unspoiled fishing village dominated by a 14th century castle and surrounded by white limestone cliffs, umbrella pines and vineyards descending directly into the sea. Pastel houses and colorful wooden fishing boats curve around the little port.

Take your time to do a little shopping or take a boat trip (not included) to marvel at the crystalline azure coves called Calanques and its smooth white cliffs

Please note that the boat ride in Cassis is depending of :

    • The good weather conditions
    • The decision of the captain to take the WC user on board (the boat has no special accommodation for people with disabilities, the wheelchair is loaded aboard by the crew)

  • Toulon, one of the most beautiful bay in Europe

Bordered by high limestone hills topped with umbrella pines, the Bay of Toulon is reputedly one of Europe's finest natural harbor. Used by Greek and Roman vessels, the bay of Toulon is the first military place in France. But Toulon is also a typical Mediterranean city with its bustling and colorful old town, the “lower town” as they say in Toulon, with narrow streets and squares shaded by plane trees, refreshed by beautiful fountains. Its Provençal market located on the Cours Lafayette, sung by Gilbert Becaud is a joy for the eyes and nose.
The opera, the great art museums, Haussmann architecture, murmuring fountains, make Toulon a cultural and tourist city in its own right.

From the “Big Tower”, former fortress built to protect the entrance of the port, the city will appear in its entire beauty.

  • Marseilles, the oldest city in France and Cassis, charming fishing village

Marseille was founded by the Phoenicians 2600 years ago.

This itinerary, beginning by a panoramic from the balcony of Notre Dame de la Garde, will make you discover the main spots of interest of the city, from the Old Port to the new monuments created for the event “Marseille, European Capital of Culture” in 2013 like MUCEM, Villa Méditerranée or Fort Saint Jean.

Early afternoon, stop in Cassis, an unspoiled fishing village dominated by a 14th century castle and surrounded by white limestone cliffs, umbrella pines and vineyards descending directly into the sea. Pastel houses and colorful wooden fishing boats curve around the little port.

Take your time to do a little shopping or take a boat trip (not included) to marvel at the crystalline azure coves called Calanques and its smooth white cliffs.

Please note that the boat ride in Cassis is depending of :

    • The good weather conditions
    • The decision of the captain to take the WC user on board (the boat has no special accommodation for people with disabilities, the wheelchair is loaded aboard by the crew)

  • The fishermen village of Sanary sur Mer, wine tasting and beaches

  • History and wine tasting in Avignon (Departure from Marseille or Aix en Provence)

The culture of the vine, introduced by the Greeks in the ancient times, has grown in the Rhône Valley with the arrival of the Popes in Avignon in the Middle Ages.

The Côte du Rhone wines, occupy today a major place among the best AOC (certified French quality control) of the French production.

A stop in a vineyard at Châteauneuf du Pape, one of the most famous appellation, makes you discover all the flavors of this exceptional wine.

At the end of the morning, your guide will drive you to Avignon. Capital of Christianity during the Middle Age, the city has kept from this great period exceptional monuments such as the Palace of the Popes and the Bénézet bridge, famous worldwide thanks to the song “Sous le Pont d’Avignon”.

  • Roman day in Arles (Departure from Marseille or Aix en Provence)

This part of Provence, very early occupied by Julius Caesar’s Roman colonies, is a land steeped by history. Listed on the List of World Heritage of Humanity by Unesco, Arles is the city with the most Roman monuments after Rome.

Its name is now inseparable from that of Van Gogh. It is the light that attracted Van Gogh in the south of France. Vincent arrived in Arles day of February 1888 in search of the light from outside and interior illumination. You will discover, throughout the tour, both the rich Roman heritage and the places that inspired the painter.

After lunch (not included), visit of an olive oil mill and tasting. (every day except Sunday)

Since 1744, the Moulin Saint-Michel in Mouriès, in the Valley of Baux-de-Provence, has been processing the harvest of the olive growers in the Alpilles, near the foothills of the Alps. This family has been passionately involved in this region, this history and this noble trade for three generations. They will show you the old mill and teach you the techniques of making olive oil before finishing with a tasting.

  • Bay of Saint Tropez (Departure from Toulon)

Saint Tropez, known worldwide for its yachts, luxury and glitter. But in reality, if we forget this, we discover a charming little fishing village, narrow streets where it is very nice to walk / roll around to discover interesting medieval monuments. The true spirit of Saint Tropez is revealed once the flood of tourists disappeared, after the summer season. (off-season opportunity to visit a pipe factory in Cogolin or do a wine tasting.)

On the way back, the panoramic road, through the Maures hills, makes you discover no less than 5,000 acres of chestnut forests.

Please note that considering the traffic, this tour is not available in July and August.

  • The “Green Provence” and wine tasting (Half day tour)

In this country, beats the heart of Provence, a remarkable diversity of landscapes where the plains and hills alternate. Visit an exceptional and historical religious Gothic masterpiece: the Basilica of Mary-Magdalene in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, the third tomb in Christianity after Jerusalem and Saint Peter’s in Rome and appreciate a wine tasting in a private domain, in the middle of the Provencal countryside.

  • Stunning « Côte Bleue » & Martigues, a small Venice (Departure from Marseille or Aix en Provence)

A few kilometers from Marseille, impressive wild landscapes spread between the Mediterranean Sea and the “Etang de Berre”, largest soft & sea water pond in France. It is called the “Côte Bleue” or Blue Coast. Environment protection policies have saved this part of the coast from overgrowth. It feels wonderful to explore small fishing villages like Carro and it daily fish market. Nearby is Martigues, a town often named “the Provencal Venice” due to its beautiful churches and charming canals which split the town center in three islands.

  • Lavender tour : Provence like a postcard (From mid June to end of July).

The cultivation of lavender is an ancestral know-how. Indeed, since ancient times, in the Greek and Roman civilizations, lavender is already cited for its current uses.
